Matthew Swope is a self-taught jewelry artist born in Wray, Colorado in 1964 and educated at Columbia University in New York City. Often drawing inspiration from Eastern design philosophies, his work challenges the established confines of traditional jewelry making. By experimenting with found objects and using scale as a central design principle, Swope creates space for his materials to speak for themselves.
